South Sound Kona Session
On Saturday the SE wind didn't deliver quite what was forecast, but I took out the Kona 11'5 out in South Sound and found out what it was designed for. I sailed out on my 7m to the island with Charles in SUP mode. It wasn't planable but it's amazing how well the board glides. Once out there we had some great waves and I was amazed how well the board turns. The wind picked up a little and I managed to get planing a few times which made it even better to get onto the right waves. Looks like this is going to be the way to go for the windless summer ahead.

Great website guys, glad to have found the home of Cayman windsurfing.I'm not moving to the island until Jan, but any advice on wether I should try and bring my windsurfing kit from the UK, or buy it on the island? - is there anywhere to buy kit, new or used, is it expensive?Same applies for my bike I guess - planning to cycle as much as possible instead of driving! Thanks, Ian
Hey Ian, glad you found our site! I would bring your kit from the UK depending on what size it is. You can get hold of 2nd hand kit on the island, but generally there is not much available for sale and it tends to be older kit. There is no new kit for sale here. We usually buy our stuff online and get it shipped here. I am about 75kg and have an 84 litre and 102 litre board, 4.7, 5.2, 5.7, 6.2 and 7.0 sails, which covers most wind conditions for me. Bikes you can get on island at Uncle Bills shop and various others, though there is not much variety. Let me know if you need any more info.
WOW! What can i say! This is one of the most beautiful beach view i've ever seem. It's a perfect beach for wind surfing!
